Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu receives Sheikh Khames Al-Khanjar the Head of Al-Seyada Party in Ankara
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu received Sheikh Khames Al-Khanjar, the head of Al-Seyada Party, in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
During the meeting, they discussed strengthening Iraqi-Turkish relations, and the implications of the Palestinian issue and the blatant aggression on Gaza City.
Sheikh al-Khanjar urged the Turkish leadership to make efforts to unify the voice of the Islamic nation and the international community; to support the Palestinian cause, and to stop the sinful attack on the innocent citizens, affirming Iraq’s firm and strong position in supporting the steadfastness of the resistance in Gaza against the Zionist occupation.
In response, the Turkish Foreign Minister affirmed Turkey's solidarity with the Palestinian people, stating that ending Israeli aggression on Gaza and support the Palestinians in their legitimate cause are top priorities for the Turkish President.
Minister Çavuşoğlu also congratulated Sheikh Al-Khanjar on the success of the local elections in Iraq, highlighting their smooth conduct, especially in the city of Kirkuk, which witnessed the highest voting rates in Iraq.
The Turkish experience in reconstruction, planning and the work of local councils is an important experience in the Middle East, Sheikh Al Khanjar said, noting that the winning lists are determined to form local governments as soon as possible, and must benefit from Turkish experiences in providing services to citizens.
The two sides also discussed the upcoming visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to Iraq next month, with Sheikh Al-Khanjar conveying the welcome of all political forces for the visit, he stressed the importance of the visit in advancing relations between Iraq and Turkey on all levels.
Sheikh Al-Khanjar affirmed Iraq's determination to combat terrorist groups that harbor malice and resentment towards neighboring countries, especially Turkey, also he stated that he is working with the Iraqi Prime Minister to eliminate the presence of armed groups that threaten the security of the region.
